The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has given service providers 90 days to come up with technical solutions to block nuisance calls.
The telecommunications service providers will then have to present their solutions for approval by the CRTC.

The CRTC is also calling on telcoms to develop new features for customers to manage their calls.
They want filters in place similar to spam filters used for e-mails.
The CRTC has given companies 180 days to develop and inform the regulatory body about which services they will be offering their customers.
Further action could be taken against any company failing to comply with the CRTC’s requests.
