Nova Scotia’s Liberal leader is sounding the alarm on the growing doctor waitlist.
The number of Nova Scotians without access to a family doctor is nearing 130,000.
Zach Churchill says it’s deeply concerning.
“We have never seen the doctor waitlist this high in Nova Scotia. It has shot up in the last 16 months since the election,” says Churchill.
He says it means more pressure on our ER’s and healthcare system, and less people getting the help they need.
Churchill says the government needs to bring back the family doctor incentive, and find new access points for primary care.
He says we can’t manage healthcare in traditional ways, and new and innovative ideas are needed.
