We are just over a week away from the 2017 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Yarmouth.
Action begins on Sunday, November 13th and wraps up on Saturday November 19th at Mariners Centre.
The main arena will be converted to five sheets of curling ice for the event.
Host Committee Chair Rick Allwright says people are coming from all over Canada.
“There’s seven coming from B.C., another contingent coming from Saskatchewan, another one from Ontario as well. We know they’ve bought tickets, they’re staying in our hotels and they’ll spend money in our communities.”
That doesn’t include the dozens of curlers on 14 teams coming to Yarmouth for the event.
Many have experience at big events like the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and the Tim Hortons Brier.
Allwright says some local curlers will have the chance to be team alternates.
“It’s an interesting challenge to find curlers that aren’t intimidated by the level that these curlers are at. We have a number of people coming locally and from away that are helping us with that task. It’s quite an exciting time for them too.”
