Connor Peveril scored a third period powerplay goal and Leif Hertz got his first MHL shutout as the Mariners beat the Pictou County Weeks Crushers 1-0 in New Glasgow.
Hertz turned aside 32 shots and was named first star of the game.
It’s the Mariners 14th win of the season to go with three losses, that puts them in first place by two points over the Crushers and Miramichi Timberwolves.
The Wolves visit Mariners Centre on Saturday night, and the Amherst Ramblers come to town Sunday night. Both games start at 7:30.
