A public hearing on housing is taking place in Yarmouth this week.
Amendments to two bylaws are being considered: one to allow boarding or rooming houses in the downtown commercial zone and another to develop a 24-unit affordable housing complex on vacant land on Shaw Avenue.
Currently, boarding or rooming houses are only allowed in residential zones. The bylaw change would allow property owners with dwelling units in any zone to rent more than three rooms.
The proposed development for Shaw Avenue would consist of a mix of bachelor, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units.
If you were looking to speak, you have until 5 p.m. tomorrow to register or submit a letter.
The hearing will take place on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in front of Town Council.
