Two local teams will compete for a provincial championship in Yarmouth this weekend.
The Division 2 Baseball tournament is happening at Gateway and Veterans Fields tomorrow and Saturday.
The Drumlin/Par-en-Bas combined U18 team will host the tournament.
Marilee Lyons, coach and organizer says it’s a great opportunity.
“We have players that have been playing for several years, and they’re very excited. We’re hoping we can go on a long run and we’ll do our best, and give it our all,” says Lyons.
The Yarmouth Vikings also qualified for provincials.
Lyons says they’re hoping for big crowds.
“We’d like to see as many fans as possible. If you’d like to volunteer, come out to the field. We’re still looking for scorekeepers, pitch-counters and canteen workers.”
Opening ceremonies take place tomorrow around noon at Gateway Field, with the championship game slated for Saturday afternoon.
