A monument remembering Jim MacLeod has been installed in downtown Yarmouth.
The former deputy mayor and long-time pharmacist at Spears and MacLeod Pharmasave passed away last year after a battle with cancer.
The monument is sitting next to the pharmacy in Alma Square, which will soon be re-named ‘Jim MacLeod Square.’

His son Fraser MacLeod says it’s a fitting tribute.
“It means a lot to me. He was special, and special to me. He really loved his community. Thanks to the community for supporting him over the years, and he loved supporting you guys as well,” says Fraser MacLeod.
The monument features a penny-farthing bicycle that MacLeod would ride in parades, and a Tilley hat that he frequently wore.
It was created by Classic Memorials through Sweeny’s Funeral Home at the request of the family.
