Has inflation affected your Thanksgiving plans?
Inflation is now at its highest level in decades and budgets are tight which means many families are being price-conscious as they shop for their big Thanksgiving meals.
Field Agent Canada surveyed 852 Canadians and 85 percent plan to celebrate the holiday this year and 73 percent intend to invite at least five people over for dinner.
The figure is much higher than 2021 when about half of respondents said they would invite guests into their home for a meal.
More than three-quarters or 77 percent say the main course will be turkey while a small percentage of others will enjoy ham (7 percent), roast beef (6 percent), seafood (9 percent) or a meat alternative.
More than half or 54 percent expect their meal will cost more this year while 39 percent anticipate spending the same as last year.
As a result, some households say they will cut back on appetizers (38 percent), desserts (37 percent) or side dishes (32 percent).
Field Agent Canada conducted the survey of Canadian shoppers in September.
