Some major sponsors are withdrawing their support for Hockey Canada’s men’s programs, including this winter’s World Juniors in Halifax and Moncton.
This comes as the organization continues to defend its leadership in the wake of sexual assault allegations, and how funds were used to settle cases.
In a statement, Tim Hortons says they’ve communicated on many occasions to the organization that they need to take strong action before it can regain the faith and trust of Canadians.
There are reports that Scotiabank is also withholding funding.
Hockey Quebec and the Ontario Hockey Federation have also asked Hockey Canada not to collect the three dollar participation fee for its players this season.
Tim Hortons says they’ll continue to support the women’s, para and youth hockey programs.
