Lex Brukovskiy raises the Ukrainian flag in Clare. c/o Municipality of Clare.
A Ukrainian resident of Clare, who recently returned from a humanitarian campaign in Ukraine, raised his home country’s flag in the municipality last week.
Lex Brukovskiy was joined by Clare MLA Ronnie LeBlanc and municipal councillors to raise the Ukrainian flag at the municipality’s offices.
Brukovskiy says it was extremely heartwarming to raise the flag.
“I felt honoured to be able to do it and thankful to my community of Clare. I’m very proud to be a member of the community.”
He spent three months with a team that brought much needed supplies into communities affected by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He also helped evacuate injured soldiers, children and the elderly fleeing the invasion.
Brukovskiy had started a crowdfunding campaign for Atlantic Canadians to buy supplies for Ukraine and thanks Nova Scotians for all their support.
“All the support and the help that people from Nova Scotia provided, to say it’s appreciated is an understatement,” “I always like to say thank you to everybody every chance I get.”
Brukovskiy says he’s trying to organize another trip back to Ukraine.
