Good morning !
It’s this time of year and late spring we here in Nova Scotia see some Snails in and around our gardens and property .
Land Snails are common in Nova Scotia , not significant in size but are still a pest to be reckoned with at times for some .
This morning I was reading about A county in Florida is under quarantine, but not due to a COVID-19 outbreak.
Why?
Snails. A population of invasive giant African land snails that can produce up to 2,500 eggs a year has invaded the New Port Richey area of Pasco County. This invasive species poses a health risk to humans because they carry a parasite called rat lungworm, which can cause meningitis. Although Giant African land snails are illegal to own as pets in the US, some exotic pet owners still keep them.
