Four elementary schools in the Municipality of Clare will be examined through a school review process.
A provincially appointed school options committee will look at Clare’s École Joseph-Dugas and École Saint-Albert as well as École Jean-Marie-Gay in Saulnierville and École Stella-Maris in Meteghan.
Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial Communications Coordinator Stephanie Comeau says many things will be discussed.
“Everything from the quality of the buildings, to the number of students, the location, as well as if the schools are meeting the best educational needs for our students.”
Right now, each school has between 80-105 students.
Comeau says all options are on the table, from staying status quo to closing one to four schools.
A review was approved by the CSAP after a request came from the community.
The 13 member committee will be made up of representatives from each school, the community, the CSAP and the municipality.
The committee will have nine months to make recommendations.
