Barron says it’s an honour to be a part of the team.
“I’m excited about it. It’s always kind of cool to get a chance to coach some different players. Hopefully, we can get a few guys on board there as well.”
Joining Barron will be Truro’s Shawn Evans as Head Coach and Valley’s Nick Greenough as a fellow assistant.
Barron says because his son, Mariners forward Matt Barron could make the team, he’ll be in charge of the defensemen.
“Matthew played last year, and his name is in the mix again. I didn’t want to be hindrance there. I said I would do it as long as I could look after the defensemen, and that was approved.”
Two teams from the MHL will take part in the event November 14-16 in Cornwall, Ontario.
Rosters will be named sometime this week.
The Mariners are off to their best start in franchise history at 12-0.
They travel to New Brunswick this weekend for two games, Friday in Campbellton and Saturday at Miramichi.
