You may have noticed some road closures in downtown Yarmouth lately.
The town has hired Aberdeen Paving to conduct its sewer separation project.
Work began on Water Street last week, and is continuing on Brown Street today.
Eventually, the project will extend from Cliff Street to Pleasant Street.
Mayor Pam Mood describes the work.
“It includes the replacement of a combined stone sewer with a separate storm sewer and a separate sanitary sewer. The water main will be replaced as part of the project.”
The cost is roughly $3.3 million, but the federal government is contributing $1.7 million, and the province $859,000.
The project will be completed next summer.
