The federal government has made a major investment in Wedgeport.
Chris d’Entremont, MLA for Argyle-Barrington, West Nova MP Colin Fraser and Aldric d’Entremont, Warden for the Municipality of Argyle, announced $858,000 in joint funding for Phase 2 of Wedgeport’s wastewater systems.
Argyle will install small-scale, on-site wastewater solutions for up to 44 properties in Wedgeport.
Chris d’Entremont says today’s announcement is extremely significant.
“Those homeowners have been dealing with bad drinking water, a very difficult situation with the disposal of their wastewater. The municipality, the federal government and the provincial government have been working for years to come up with a solution so it’s good to see everything falling in place for those residents.”
The project is designed to improve the quality of wastewater effluent on individual properties, reducing
the risk of groundwater contamination and of sewage discharge into the ocean.
The federal government is contributing half of the funding with the province putting up 25% and the Municipality of Argyle
providing the remaining 25%.
