The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation is still having problems supplying its store with cannabis.
The problem began on day one when it became legalized in Canada on October 17th.
The NSLC places its orders through the federal process with multiple suppliers across the country that are also dealing with the same issues.
Spokesperson Beverley Ware tells Acadia News they continue to work with the licensed producers.
“And they’re working very closely in turn with Health Canada as they sort of come to understand the regulations and requirements in these initial stages of this new industry.”
Ware says as far as cannabis sales are concerned, they’re pretty much in line with projections.
She says they had anticipated that NSLC stores in H-R-M and Sydney River would be the busiest, which turned out to be the case.
Meanwhile, you won’t be able to get a recommendation from NSLC staff for some good weed as you would for a fine wine or spirit.
Ware says federal regulations prohibit the advertising or promotion of cannabis products.
“Our employees can talk to the experience or if they’re a new customer, to get some understanding of what they are looking for but we can’t give specific recommendations for products the way we can with alcohol.”
She says employees are not permitted to use inducements to promote cannabis use.
Ware does says customers can use NSLC gift cards for both alcohol and cannabis purchases.
