A youth has been charged with arson in relation to two fires set at Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School yesterday.
Yarmouth Town RCMP say they have charged the youth with Arson and Mischief over $5,000. They were arrested without incident and released on conditions. The youth will appear in court at a later date.
Police say they responded to the fires around 1:40 p.m. yesterday and found the Yarmouth Fire Department were on scene and had extinguished them. Police determined a youth had set the fires.
Regional Executive Director of Education for the Tri-County Regional Centre for Education Dr. Chris Boulter has said the fires took place in a downstairs student bathroom. Everyone had been evacuated from the building and there were no injures.
Classes were cancelled today at YCMHS. The RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
