The Town of Yarmouth’s Special Election is this Saturday.
Three people are running for a vacant seat on council, and we’re talking about each of them this week.
Don Berry is the principal of Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School and served on council from 2016 to 2020.
He outlined what he believes is the biggest issue facing Yarmouth.
“Housing has always been a big problem in the Yarmouth area and I would say that we would have to focus strongly on building our community.”
Berry says he’ll also focus on bringing in industries so young people can stay in the town.
He discussed why he decided to run in the election.
“I’ve been involved in complaining about what was going on and finding out that better than to complain is to run and make sure to do some changes that would benefit Yarmouth.”
The other candidates are Belle Hatfield and Tim Clayton.
Voting can be done online, over the phone, or in person during business hours at the Returning Office at Town Hall.
