The Department of Fisheries and Oceans has seized a vessel in St. Mary’s Bay.
On Tuesday, fishery officers arrested the captain and crew of the vessel, for alleged violations of the Fisheries Act, after an inspection.
The vessel was seized, as well as a quantity of gear. The captain and crew were later released.
The activities took place at the Meteghan Wharf according to DFO. They requested RCMP on patrol in the area attend the wharf as a precaution. Police observed the activity but did not need to respond.
DFO says the arrests and seizures are part of an ongoing investigation.
