The Yarmouth Hospital Foundation has earned accreditation from Imagine Canada’s Standards Program.
Imagine Canada works to strengthen charities and nonprofits across the country to help them better serve individuals and communities.
The YHF applied for the Standards Program, which recognizes excellence and compliance in five areas: board governance, financial accountability and transparency, fundraising, staff management, and volunteer involvement.
“The process of becoming accredited took over two years, a lot of work involved both on staff and at the board level, and its one that we’re extremely pleased to have achieved,” says Foundation Chair Neil LeBlanc. “It was well worth the effort that we put into it.”
LeBlanc says it’s a major achievement that they are proud of.
“It also allows people to understand that the foundation is doing its job and that we are going to be good stewards, not only for them, but also for the community and the hospital all together.”
Over 200 charities and nonprofit groups have been accredited. The YHF is joining three other hospital foundations in the province to hold the distinction.
