A Yarmouth man has been charged after stealing a vehicle and evading police many times over the weekend.
On Saturday, August seventh, police were told that a vehicle has been stolen from a residence on Store St. in Yarmouth. It was sighted throughout the day but police were unable to locate it.
The vehicle was spotted that evening and police set up a roadblock to intercept it. The driver of the stolen vehicle did not stop and narrowly missed striking a police vehicle head-on before fleeing.
After a second traffic stop in Annapolis County failed to stop the driver on Sunday morning, police were able to locate the vehicle and arrest the driver while he was attempting to change a flat tire.
Nineteen year-old Jacob Tunnillie has been charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, Two counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
He appeared in, and was released by, Annapolis Royal Provincial Court on Monday on conditions. Tunnillie was later charged with Failing to Comply with a Release Order and was remanded into custody. He appeared in Yarmouth Provincial Court this morning.
