An Aboriginal fisherman says he’s distraught that someone destroyed his boat. The “Buck and Doe” was found burning in the middle of St. Mary’s Bay last Monday evening. It eventually sunk. It had been tied at a wharf in Saulnierville but the ropes had been burned. Alex McDonald, a council member of the Sipekne’katik band says it’s hard to say if the incident is related to the ongoing dispute over the aboriginal food fishery. We speak with McDonald on his experiences as an Aboriginal fisherman in Southwestern NS.
