New Brunswick’s deputy premier has fond memories of the two police officers killed in Fredericton last week.
Stephen Horsman was a member of the Fredericton Police Force for 25 years and worked as Const. Robb Costello’s supervisor for a couple of those years.
“Robb always had a wonderful smile, very positive, and always willing to help people,” Horsman said. “I can still see him walking down the hallway saying ‘good morning corporal, hey corp, how are you, can I help you out’ and Robb was always like that.”
The two also had an interest in basketball and formed a small team, which would play against some schools in the area.
Horsman did not work with Const. Sara Burns but knew her personally, along with her husband Steve.
“She was very proud, very excited to become a police officer,” he said. “She was always committed to helping her community, especially on women’s issues and protecting women.”
A regimental funeral for the two officers will take place on Saturday afternoon.
