A Yarmouth boy has gone viral with a cover of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah.’ 12 year old Josh Cochrane changed some of the words to reflect last Friday’s shootings in Fredericton, where four people were killed, including two members of the Fredericton Police.
Cochrane’s video has been viewed over 500,000 times, and it has reached the family members of the victims.
Cochrane says he wanted to do something after watching coverage of the tragedy.
“What I wanted from this song is to show the families that I care, and that I respect the sacrifice of the officers and what they do for our country.”
His mother Ann Harrington says they’ve also been invited to the regimental funeral for the slain police officers.
She said one police officer told her her son’s song may have ‘saved his life,’ giving him the emotional cry he needed.
Cochrane, who has autism, has performed all over the world at various events, including the World Autism Festival and WE Day in Toronto.
