Talks are being held to host a street hockey tournament in Yarmouth next month.
During the last week of September, plans are to shut down Main Street and hold a 4-on-4 tournament for age groups at Novice and up, along with an adult division.
The J-STRONG foundation is partnering with Yarmouth County Minor Hockey to host the event as a fundraiser for minor hockey.
Steve Berry of the foundation says they’ll be looking for sponsorship from the community.
“We hope this will be a huge fund raiser for minor hockey. The more sponsors and people we can get on board, the less the kids have to pay and the better it is for all of us.”
Mayor Pam Mood says she welcomes the idea, and the traffic authority will look at the request to shut down Main Street for the event.
Berry says more specific details will be released in the coming weeks.
