The Town of Yarmouth is still waiting for the Department of Lands and Forestry to meet with council and discuss the status of the deer population.
The town sent out an invitation about five months ago.
Council wants to minimize interaction between humans and deer.
There are many deer in town, although there’s no official estimate of numbers.
There are always social media posts showing people feeding deer on their properties.
Mayor Pam Mood says council just wants to keep people safe.
“There are vehicles, you know we lost one life because of a deer running out in the road in town. As well, they carry disease including Lyme disease.”
Mayor Mood says once they meet with experts they can develop a plan on how to address the issue.
