The first phase of upgrades at the Yarmouth International Ferry Terminal are nearing completion.
Three of the seven work packages for the project are complete. They included demolition, roof replacements and improvements to the envelope of the main terminal building.
Package four includes construction of a new stevedore building. Package five is for installing new ticket and PIL Booths. Package six involves installing three new canopies and package seven involves installing both CBSA and Bay Ferries booths, new yard lighting, CCTV cameras, PA system, signage, and demolition of the old south canopy.
Upgrades were also made to the terminal yard. Crews installed underground site services for water, sewer, and electrical and steel piles and concrete foundations. They’ve also added new windows, doors, vestibules, brick repairs, and siding.
The Town of Yarmouth says the Phase I upgrades are set to be fully completed by summer.
