The Maritime Junior Hockey League’s (MHL) Board of Governors voted Monday evening to accept a revised schedule which will extend the 2020-21 regular season from March 28th to April 14th.
This came on the eve of the first game involving teams in the Eastlink North since January 3rd as the province of New Brunswick returned to the Yellow Phase of its COVID-19 recovery plan on Monday.
“It’s taken a lot of hard work from the Maritime Junior Hockey League’s Return to Play Committee, Executive, Board of Governors, team staff, and other stakeholders to get us to this point,” said MHL President Steve Dykeman. “We’re excited to have games resuming in New Brunswick and are confident that the plans in place will continue to present a safe environment for our fans, players, and team staff.”
The Eastlink North will remain at a 30-game regular season schedule, as was announced on January 27th.
The Summerside Western Capitals will remain in the Eastlink South for the remainder of the regular season, with their schedule staying at 30 games due to the number of postponed home games that must be rescheduled.
The six teams in Nova Scotia have had two games added to their schedule, one on the road and one at home, for a 36-game regular season.
The playoff format for the 2020-21 regular season is being finalized and will soon be announced.
