Tall Ships are on the horizon for the South Shore.
Premier Stephen McNeil was on the waterfront in Lunenburg today announcing where the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta will visit.
“We’re going to welcome tall ships from around the world to eleven communities in Nova Scotia to get a chance to experience Nova Scotia culture and cuisine and all of the things that we have to offer.”
In the South Shore, the ships will call on Lunenburg, Shelburne and Digby.
The province is contributing $1.5 million to bring ships from the United Kingdom, Portugal, Bermuda, Boston and Quebec City.
McNeil says the impression the ships leave will last a lifetime.
“There will be activities in these communities where young people will get the chance to be part of being on these vessels and experiencing what it would be like to be in one of these regattas.”
The tall ships will be in Nova Scotia next summer from late June through the middle of August.
