A hefty update on the Mariners Centre Expansion and bridge project issued via joint press release on Thursday morning.
The release, on behalf of the Town of Yarmouth and the Municipalities of Yarmouth and Argyle, provides details on committee appointments and next steps.
In its first meeting last week, The Mariners Centre Expansion Steering Committee named a new Chair and Vice-Chair and members of two subcommittees.
A presentation from Mariners Centre CEO Dorgam Hideib identified a new aquatics centre in East Hants as a great example that would suit the needs of the region, with some adjustments.
The group also touched on next steps for a “bridge” solution to provide the community with a pool and recreation space until expansion becomes a reality.
The bridge committee will meet again next week to table and evaluate options before making a recommendation on the best path forward.
In a move to increase transparency, all Steering Committee and subcommittee meetings will be open to the general public via zoom meeting.
The New Build Committee will meet on Friday, February 12th at 3:15 pm.
The Bridge Committee will meet on Tuesday, February 16th at 10 am.
