It’s might not be all about ice at the Mariner’s Centre anymore with the addition of a new splash park making headway.
A request for funding from the Splash Park Committee came before council at the regular meeting of the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth.
The Splash Park Committee requested $38,777 from the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth for capital finances, to supply $20,000 in operating costs and place the park at the Mariner’s Centre.
Councillor Daniel Allen called for amendments to the motion, including the site selection being approved by the owners, that financial support be conditional on shoring up funding from other sources and to give the Mariner’s Centre board approval to take on the operating costs with the council providing a portion.
Both the amendments and request were approved.
