Day two of a search for a missing person off of Morris Island is underway.
Yarmouth County Ground Search and Rescue was activated on Wednesday morning.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax says they were called by RCMP just before 2:30 on Tuesday, indicating that there was a missing person in the waters off Morris Island and a second person found deceased along the shoreline.
The deceased person is connected to the missing person.
The incident reportedly involved a small boat that capsized.
No names have been released.
The search involves aircraft from 14 Wing Greenwood, a coast guard vessel, and RCMP.
The JRCC said yesterday that it will provide ongoing updates.
Meantime, Municipality of the District of Argyle Councilor Guy Surette, whose district includes Morris Island, posted a message to social media addressing the tragedy.
Surette notes that Le Club sociale des Isles on Surette’s Island will serve as a base of operations for Ground Search and Rescue, and has asked any residents who are able, to drop off sandwiches or sweets for the crew.
