In a year that posed challenges for everyone, Municipality of the District of Yarmouth Warden John Cunningham says that Nova Scotians were able to come together, both locally and provincially, to face them.
Cunningham shared what he had to learn to be during the pandemic.
“For sure tenacious is the word. This year has obviously thrown lots of challenges towards everybody out there,” said Cunningham. “I have no qualms about being resilient and tenacious in following through, to make sure that my projects and issues that happen around here, to make sure we’re finished with them. Get it done.”
That tenacity allowed Cunningham and the council to achieve during this difficult year. He talked about one of the council’s biggest achievements of 2020.
“The Cape Forchu Master Plan that council passed last term,” said Cunningham. “We’re looking forward to making sure we make that a world class destination because its part of our community and our heritage in this area.”
He says that in 2021 they plan on developing a phased approach to the Cape Forchu Master Plan, continue work on expanding the Mariner’s Centre and to ensure that people in the municipality receive reliable Internet.
Cunningham says that his biggest takeaway was to be tenacious and resilient, especially in the face of challenges like COVID-19.
