Poor weather and unfavourable search conditions continue to stymie the search for the Chief William Saulis scallop dragger.
The vessel went down off the coast of Delaps Cove in the Bay of Fundy on December 15th, with six men aboard.
The body of one crew member was found later that day, and there’s been no sign of the other five missing fishermen or the vessel since.
Still missing are Captain Charles “Hot Dog” Roberts, Leonard “Layback Lenny” Gabriel, Aaron Cogswell, Eugene “Geno” Francis, and Dan Forbes.
On Monday, December 28th, RCMP reported finding debris that is consistent with ‘a small section of the upper portion of the Chief William Saulis’.
The Mounties said they were partnering with the Transportation Safety Board in order to confirm whether or not it’s from the missing vessel.
Friday’s search involved a partnership with the Canadian Coast Guard and Canada Border Services Agency, who provided a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) for the search.
The vessel was not found.
Deteriorating conditions put a halt to the search, with no activity on Saturday.
RCMP say they will return to the water to search on Sunday, conditions permitting.

RCMP shared an example of the coastline and debris on the shoreline as seen by aerial searchers.
