The Yarmouth Junior A Mariners take on the St. Stephen Aces tonight at Mariners Centre. The Aces organization experienced a tragedy last week when three players were involved in a motor vehicle accident. Two players escaped serious injury, but one, Scottie Greene, remains in hospital. Mariners Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says the team will donate $500 to the Scottie Greene fund. “Really felt strongly that was something we need to do. In the hockey community, we battle hard from whistle to whistle, but certainly our heart goes out to the Greene family and the Aces.” There will be a presentation from Captain to Captain after tonight’s game.
The Aces have opened an “In Trust for Scottie Greene” account at Scotiabank, if you would like to help. The account number is 903240249424.

The Mariners are 4-0 to start the season, while the Aces are winless in their first three. Barron says they’ve been working on their power-play this week. “So far five-on-five we’ve been very good, and our penalty kill has been extremely good. We worked hard yesterday on our power-play, and hopefully we can score a couple of power-play goals.” The Mariners already have a win over the Aces this season, 5-1 back on September 10 in St. Stephen. Tomorrow night, the South Shore Lumberjacks visit Mariners Centre.
