A group of demonstrators who have been blocking two logging roads in New France in an effort to protect against habitat destruction have been forcibly removed by RCMP.
Police said in an release issued Wednesday morning that nine people, ranging in age from 30 to 70, were taken into custody peacefully on Tuesday.
Protestors from Extinction Rebellion Nova Scotia have decamped in the area for more than a month in an effort to halt logging activity.
They claim that the land is habitat for the endangered mainland moose.
A court-ordered injunction was issued last week.
Those arrested were taken into custody for Civil Contempt of an Injunction Order.
The five women and four men were released from custody and are due in court at a later date.
