Officials say they received an emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) in the area of Digby Neck just before 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Debris was spotted about two hours later, including two lift rafts which had washed ashore.
Three military aircraft, three Canadian Coast Guard vessels, and local fishers are involved in the search.
Unfortunately, this evening, one individual was found deceased. The next of kin have been notified.
Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to the family. The search continues for the remaining individuals.— HfxJRCC_CCCOS (@hfxjrcc) December 16, 2020
