I’ve always said that home movies are the closest to time travel we’ll ever be able to get! It is amazing that you can pop in a DVD or a VHS and be able to see all your memories. Most families have at least one person who was always videotaping everything! One of my aunts was really big into capturing everything when I was growing up and I am so glad. We now have hours of old video from old family events and visits and it is great to relive those events again! It’s also amazing to see family members who have passed away too.
You also pick up on a ton of stuff that you might have missed growing up like the old cars or how young everyone looks or even who’s speaking on the radio in the background! Check out this old clip I found from like 2002! It’s me as a kid around Christmas and CJLS is on in the background. If you listen carefully you can hear Wade Cleveland On-Air! Sorry to make you feel old Wade!
I recently have gotten really into rewatching these old tapes and have been encouraging my family to do the same. I think it could be a cool holiday tradition.
