South Shore Public Libraries wants to honour the beauty of the written word.
That’s why they’re throwing the first ever Lunenburg Lit festival.
Deputy Chief Librarian Jeff Mercer says it’s an idea that has been growing for a while.
“We really knew that people are into this. They want to support it. They want to know more about Canadian literature and about local literature in particular, and we thought ‘let’s do this.’”
Mercer says you don’t have to look far from home to find great authors to celebrate.
He hopes this will inspire people to read and enjoy more local literature.
The festival takes place September 30 and October 1 in Lunenburg.
