There have been line-ups at local laundromats because of this dry spell.
It’s been sometime since we’ve had any significant amount of rain and wells are starting to run dry.
Kathy Boudreau owns K.D. Wash and Dry Laundry in Yarmouth and says they’ve been very busy.
“Business is booming. It’s so busy, I don’t have time to do my own drop-offs.”
She says people are worried.
“People are telling me they’re getting scared. Their water is getting down, they’re trying to conserve what’s left and some people are are out.”
Boudreau says she’s been busy since the first of July.
She says this year seems worse than the drought of 2016.
During the summer and fall of 2016, residents of southwestern Nova Scotia experienced water shortages because of unusually warm and dry conditions.
While Paul d’Entremont doesn’t think it’s as bad as a couple of years ago, the water delivery business owner says that could change.
He says business is really been picking up.
d’Entremont says we need a lot more rain than what we’ve been getting.
“One rain storm won’t do it because when it’s dry like this the just runs off. It would take a few days of rain for it to seep into the ground.”
