Canadian Blood Services is hosting collection clinics this week.
The clinics are taking place in Yarmouth and Shelburne Counties.
Peter MacDonald is the Director of Donor Relations for the Atlantic region for CBS.
He says this time of year the challenge is coming out of the summer months.
He says they are so reliant on a small percentage of the population that are active blood donors but many are away on
vacation or at the cottage.
“Our inventory traditionally takes a dip and that happened again this summer. We’re working to recover the inventory right across the country and that’s why the clinics in Clare, Yarmouth and Barrington Passage are so important this week.”
Clinics are being held at the NSCC Burridge Campus today, Tuesday Sept 20 from 12 to 3 and 5 to 8 and tomorrow Wed Sept 21 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7.
A clinic will be held Thursday at the Barrington Lions hall from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7.
One was held yesterday in Clare.
