The premier says, despite the province’s successes, he is still concerned about COVID-19.
Stephen McNeil made the comments after Thursday’s cabinet meeting.
He says drastic jumps in case numbers across the country show just how quickly letting our guard down can lead to a resurgence in the virus.
McNeil says he remains concerned with growing case numbers here.
“One the things that comes out of the success Nova Scotians have had, by working together and keeping our numbers low, is complacency.”
He says he hopes the second wave doesn’t get any worse than this.
McNeil says he wants to be able to focus on economic recovery.
“Until we get COVID under control, the economic health and all of the other things really won’t matter because COVID has just ravaged so many other parts of our society.”
McNeil says it is everyone’s responsibility to stem the spread of the virus.
