So far our Atlantic Bubble has been going alright. we still have a few cases here and there but for the most part we are doing better then expected. Certainly better then other bigger provinces! We are even unofficially one of the safest places on earth right now in terms of COVID-19, but we can not relax yet!
Winter is on the way and with winter comes colds and flus and staying inside more often. This could possibly bring more cases. With winter also usually comes vacations down south. Many go to a warmer climate to escape the harsh weather here in Nova Scotia in the winter. That will be much different this year as for the foreseeable future the 2 week isolation will still be in place! There is however another possible option.
A Nova Scotia travel agency says that it wants to extend the Atlantic bubble to a resort in Cuba. The idea is that Atlantic Canadians would go to the resort and would be completely isolated from the rest of Cuba. All the staff at the resort will have been there and will have been test before the guests arrive! The guests would then come back and not need to self isolate having only been on the resort. Apparently many provinces in Cuba have had low COVID cases but I’m not sure if the risk is worth it.
This is by no means happening yet as the agency is still in talks with levels of government. So far the government has said they will not make any exceptions to the 14 day self isolation but it could happen! In my opinion, we should stick it out this winter and stay in Nova Scotia and try and get this virus under control! What do you think? would you support extending the Atlantic bubble to Cuba or any other place? What about another province? Give me a call or comment on our Facebook Page!
