The fire hall in Lake George will be renovated to include a new Community Centre.
West Nova MP Colin Fraser, Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill, and Leland Anthony, Warden of the Municipality of Yarmouth, were on hand to make the announcement.
Fraser tells CJLS News where the money for the renovations is coming from.
“The federal government announced an amount of $78,000 towards the project and that is being matched by the provincial government and the Municipality of Yarmouth is also making a contribution of $10,000 and that is all in support of the auxiliary and the other fundraising activities that has gone on at the Lakes and District Fire Hall to see this project become a reality”
Churchill tells CJLS News what the money will help pay for.
“That’s dollars that is going to go toward an expanded facility, recreational equipment, and, of course, it will enhance that department’s ability to provide a comfort centre during challenging times and people in help people in the event of a drought, so, it’s money well spent”
The community has also raised funds towards the project and for the department’s equipment with weekly bingo’s, community suppers, and a canteen.
