Statistics Canada says employment rose by 419-thousand in July as businesses and workplaces continued to reopen.
Most of the month’s increases were in part-time work.
The job gains pushed the national unemployment rate down to 10.9 per cent from 12.4 per cent in June.
But the national agency says employment is still 1.3 million below its pre-COVID-19 levels in February.
Here in Nova Scotia, the economy gained 3,400 jobs while the unemployment rate fell 2.2 points to 10.8 percent.
Statistics Canada says employment is at 92.7 percent of its February pre-COVID-19 level.
