Tobias Charles Doucette, currently residing in Bridgewater, has been charged with Attempted Murder of a Bridgewater Police Sergeant and Assault on his common law partner. A Warrant of Arrest was applied for and granted at the Bridgewater Justice Centre. There are no confirmed sightings since the Alert Ready message was sent.
Bridgewater Police have also released a photo of Doucette.
The officer who was stabbed is now said to be in surgery at a Halifax hospital.
Police are combing Bridgewater for a man wanted for attempted murder after he attacked an officer.
Bridgewater police say a senior officer was sent to the hospital after responding to a domestic assault call at the Bridgewater Hotel on High Street last night.
The officer was struck in the neck with an edged weapon, and sustained serious injuries. The suspect then fled on foot.
Both the officer and female domestic violence victim were transported to hospital. The victim was checked for minor injuries and released shortly after.
The suspect is described as a First Nations male in his thirties, 6’2″, 220 lbs, brown hair, green eyes, and was last seen wearing no shirt, no shoes, and black shorts.
An Emergency Alert was sent out earlier this morning saying police and K-9 units are searching the south end of town and noted he is suspected to be in backyards and wooded areas.
South Shore Regional Hospital has gone on lock down due to the situation and is limiting access to those with appointments and those in need of ER services.
Police are asking residents to stay in their homes as they search for the suspect.
