Swimmers in Nova Scotia have been raising money for Camp Brigadoon for several years, and now anyone can do it here in Yarmouth County.
Jennifer Hood of the NS Lifeguard Service, and a coach of the Yarmouth Whitecaps, says that, when you register, you will choose one of the time slots, the lake, and the day.
There are also three distances to pick from.
“A thousand metres, 3000 metres, or 5000 metres, and you can swim any of those distances between August tenth and fourteenth, between eleven and twelve or four and five in the afternoon so that we know we have lifeguards on duty.”
Hood says they usually rent the facilities each year for training but couldn’t do that this year.
“We pay a lot of money to go there, so that’s a big chunk out of their fundraising gone so, instead of doing our normal beach projects that we do, that we would do one large beach project and support Brigadoon Village to try and get them some of their money back.”
Anyone wishing to take part can go to www.brigadoonvillage.org, pick you day, time, and lake, and set your goal for donations.
