It’s coming! Summer that is…and I have to be honest, I have NEVER been so happy to see the warm weather arrive. I’m practically ecstatic.
Life in the Pandemic has lead me straight into a fitness rut. There’s been a little stress, and it’s lead to my crutch – eating comfort food. LOTS of comfort food chips mainly, but other things as well. And that nice little exercise program I had been on? Out the proverbial window.
But here comes the sun, and just in time! Warmer weather, fresh air and perhaps (just maybe) a renewed desire to get out and get exercising!

I was checking out some ideas online (okay I was shopping for albums…) when I stumbled upon a website talking about Virtual Runs. This is pretty nifty!
What’s a Virtual Run? Well you are still running, it’s not pretend. A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym, or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. And your medal will be shipped directly to you. Complete a virtual 5K, 10K, half marathon and more! Looking for “5K’s near me”? These virtual 5K’s and more can be completed wherever you want to do them!
Then I hit upon it. A Nova Scotia Virtual Run.
It starts in Yarmouth (Virtually, remember) and takes you to Meat Cove Campground in Cape Breton. 792 kilometres, 99 days to finish. It started on June 1st, and I missed it but…wow!
