Isolating at home has some people feeling a little blue so one business owner has hit on an idea to spread some cheer.
Nancy Rogers, owner of Seaweed Tours in Lunenburg, normally uses her 8-person bus to bring people around Lunenburg to see hidden gems, as she calls them, and entertain them with a wealth of stories.
She had just started to gear up for the season when COVID-19 restrictions were put in place. She didn’t want to add to the problem by being out driving around and potentially spreading the virus so she decided she couldn’t take the chance and grounded her bus.
“I thought things are not going to move forward for any of us and I was in that space for a while and I started to feel really down. I thought this isn’t good and there are other people out there feeling like this so what can I do about it?”
She talked to local authorities and told them about her idea of delivering rolling telegrams and they were supportive of the idea considering she would be observing social distancing.
“If someone needs an uplift and are confined at home celebrating a birthday perhaps I can roll over and do a song or two and maybe that would be good for them. It would certainly be nice for me to spread a little joy.”
Rogers said the service is absolutely free of charge and after she delivers a telegram she will be doing what we all should be-staying the blazes home.
“It’s a little diversion from what we are all going through. It’s taking its toll on people and we could all use a break,” she said.
