It’s soon going to cost more to take a taxi in the town of Yarmouth.
Council approved a rate increase last night.
From 6am to midnight, it will cost $8, up from $6.50.
From midnight to 6am, the price has been bumped from $7.50 to $9.
Mayor Pam Mood thanked taxi drivers for their hard work and patience.
“They deserve a raise just like everybody else. The cost of living goes up and the cost of maintaining your vehicle so we were glad to be able to do that. this evening”
The five town cab companies requested the increase earlier this year.
It’s the first rate change in 15 years.
